Duane "Dean" A. Briscoe died on August 5, 2007 at his home in Naples, FL.

A memorial services service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15th, 2007 at the St. Josephs Catholic Church in Friendship, Wisconsin.  Father James P. McNamee will officiate. Interment will be at St. Leos Catholic Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin.

Friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon on Saturday, Sept 15th, at the St. Josephs Church Center (located behind the old church in Adams) at 11:30 a.m.

He was born on February 8, 1916 in Adams, WI to Amos and Marie Briscoe, the youngest of seven children. Shortly after graduating from Boys Tech High School in Milwaukee, he married Marguerite Dalton. Three children followed, Susan Felton of Clayton, CA, Terry of Franklin, WI and Janis of Naples.

After service in WW II, he began his insurance career with Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, WI. He started his own insurance agency in the Milwaukee area in 1953. By age 55, he had sold his business and served a short term as president of Northern States Life Insurance Company. For health reasons, he retired to Naples 35 years ago. Being bored with retirement, he started many ventures, one being DABCO Pools, but he particularly enjoyed speculating in real estate. He mainly built industrial warehouse space. For a time his work forced Dean to move a lot and it apparently became a habit. The family can count 15 residences from the time of his marriage until leaving for Naples and can account for at least 11 more moves in Naples. He also truly enjoyed his many friends.

Marguerite preceded him in death; as did his four brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by his children; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and many loving nephews and nieces.

Deans favorite charity has been helping Sr. Judy Dohner, HM. She is now living in Haiti, providing medical care for the very poorest of people. The family suggests contributions to her work thru Sister of the Humility of Mary, Haiti Project, 355 Ridge Drive, Naples, FL 34108.
