Barbara
Adella Kappel, age 91, of Friendship, Wisconsin died Sunday,
February 25, 2007 at her home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 1,
2007 at the Friendship Congregational Bible Church in
Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor Richard Church, Barbara�s
Grandson, will officiate. Interment will be at the Mt.
Repose Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at
Roseberry's Funeral Home and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until
the time of service at the church.
Barbara was born June 24, 1915 in the Town of Lincoln,
Adams County, Wisconsin to James and Sadie (Maynard) Hollman.
She attended school at Buckhorn through 8th
grade, and attended High School in Westfield. Barbara was
married to Erich Koehler, this marriage was blessed with two
children before ending in divorce. She married Walter J.
Kappel on April 15, 1944 in Galveston, Texas. Following
WWII, they made their home in Chicago, IL until 1953 when
they moved to Friendship, WI. Barbara and Walter hand built
the home they live in today. They also planted 5000 trees in
1953 on their property, much of which now is a State Natural
area. Barbara worked at the Adams County Memorial Hospital
as a nursing assistant for 13 years, retiring in 1976.
Barbara loved her children, and treasured her time
playing with her grandchildren. She made countless afghans
for her family over the years, finishing three this past
year for her great-grandchildren.
Barbara enjoyed sewing, making gloves, mittens, and
sweaters for her family. She was a superb pie maker. Barbara
also enjoyed reading, Bible Study, and looking at the
flowers in Walter�s gardens.
Barbara was a member of the Friendship Congregational
Bible Church, and the church�s Ladies Aid. In previous
years, she was a member of the Neighborhood Sewing Circle.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; brother,
Ellis; sister, Doris Grabarski; granddaughter, Vicky
(Koehler) Moore; and great-granddaughter, Lydia Elise
Hachtel.
Memorials may be directed to the Friendship
Congregational Bible Church or the Gideon�s Memorial Bible
Program.
