Linda Kay, (nee Kuhlmann), Bennett, age 61, went home to
her heavenly Father on Sunday, September 30, 2007. Born on
July 7, 1946 in Richland County, Wisconsin, Linda was the
only child of Vilas and Ardis (Wood) Kuhlmann. Linda�s first
years of education were at Boaz Elementary School located
near her family�s home. In 1954, she and her parents moved
to Madison where she attended Lowell Elementary School and
was proud to be one of the first students to have attended
the Herbert Schenk Middle School. As a freshman at Madison
East High School, she was influenced by Miss Hanson, her
mentor and dance instructor. After graduation from Madison
East High School in 1964, Linda married Robert L. J. Bennett
on August 24, 1965. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1972.
Through her years living in the Madison area, Linda was an
employee of Simplex Time Recorder and Lands� End. She also
volunteered for the Mohawk District of Boys Scouts of
America and was one of the first women in the District to
earn her Boy Scout wood badge award. In 2002, Linda moved to
the Adams-Friendship area where she worked as a secretary
for Wisconsin Job Service. She loved the fine arts
especially dance, art design, and quilting. She also was
fond of cats, and through the years, was surrogate mother to
many lucky felines. Linda is survived by her dear son, Shawn
Eric Bennett, of Stevens Point and friends in the Madison
and Adams- Friendship areas. She was predeceased by her
parents, maternal grandparents, Perry and Hazel Wood,
paternal grandparents, Fred and Daphne Kuhlmann, and a very
close friend, Al Elenewski from Adams.
Through life�s roller coaster of events, Linda maintained
a positive and up-beat attitude and always had a friendly
smile for everyone. In her waning hours, Linda expressed
gratitude and appreciation for her caregivers especially
Hospice workers and the spiritual solace and help provided
by friends from the congregation of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Friendship.
Visitation for Linda Kay Bennett will be held on
Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 406 East Lake
Street (Highway J) east of Friendship.
Funeral services will follow presided by Bishop Gerald
Jaquith. Interment will be next to her parents at the Indian
Creek Cemetery on Highway 60 in Orion, near Muscoda. |
