
Gerald (Jerry) Lee Geers
Born August 20, 1942 St. Louis, MO
Gerald "Jerry" L. Geers, 65, Coloma,
passed away April 9, 2008 surrounded by family. He was born
in St. Louis, MO on August 20, 1942 to the late Lawrence and
Anna (Reiser) Geers. He married Maxine Burrows December
19,1977 in Hancock, WI. As a child, Jerry lived in
California, Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin. He graduated
from Utica High School in Michigan. In 1961 he joined the
Army National Guard and attended boot camp at Fort
Leonardwood, MO. He proceeded to join the Army and attended
NCO academy at Fort Reilly, Kansas. Gerald went on to become
a heavy duty equipment instructor at Fort Belvedere,
Virginia for his remaining two and half years. During his
service Jerry guarded the Pentagon during the Kennedy
assassination. He was discharged from duty in 1964 and moved
to Wautoma in 1966. From 1967 to 1970 he worked for the City
of Wautoma as chief of police. In 1970 he took the position
of EMT, patrolman, and ambulance driver. In 1976 Jerry
resigned from the department and began driving semi. In 1977
Jerry went into business with his love and best friend,
Maxine. They started J & M Trucking as a contract carrier
transportation business. They later went on to own a
property broker business, J & M trucking of Coloma, Inc
until October 2003. Jerry continued driving until February
2006 when he was diagnosed with cancer.
Jerry proudly served as supervisor for the
Town of Colburn for 2 years and Town Chairman for 20 years.
Jerry was a very optimistic, loving, and
upbeat person through his life and during his fight with
cancer. We will forever cherish the times and hobbies we
shared and the memories we created on vacations, camping,
snowmobiling, fishing, dancing and boating on the
Mississippi River with family and friends. The "A" Team,
J.P. Lazy (Bob Warzynski), Bob Lee (Bubba), Ferdinan the
Bull (Fred Lumby) a.k.a. Ice Potato, Rick Hahne (Alffie),
and Ken and Sue Reilley were also an intricate part of
Jerry�s life. They worked as a team, had many great picnics
and made lifes journey well worth the ride.
Jerry is survived by his wife: Maxine; two
sons Kenneth and Jerry of Coloma; daughter: Samantha of
Oshkosh; granddaughters: Erica of Coloma and Madison of
Oshkosh; dog: Benji of Coloma; brother: Roger (Carol) Geers
of Taylor, MO; aunt: Velma Bartlett of Quincy, IL; brother
in laws: Leonard (Margaret) Burrows of Coloma; Jerry (Liz)
Burrows of Ventura CA; Edward (Marilyn) Burrows of Coloma;
Lawrence (Diane) burrows of Coloma; and further survived by
many other friends and family.
Jerry was preceded in death by both
parents and his beloved sister Patricia Geers.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on ,
Saturday, April 12th, 2008 at Roseberry�s Funeral
Home. Rev. Candice Lisiecki will officiate. Friends may call
at Roseberry�s on Friday April 11, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. �
8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the
time of service.
