Lauren
Tracy (POPS) Humphrey, 83, of Friendship, WI died Friday,
August 1, 2008, at OSF Saint Anthony Hospital, Rockford
Illinois.
Lauren was born October 17, 1924, to Tracy Humphrey and
Orah (Parks) Humphrey in Sparta, Wisconsin. Lauren graduated
from Sparta High School.
Lauren married his first wife, Eleanora Johnson, July 22,
1948, in Janesville, WI, with whom he had four children:
Galen, Shirlene, Alan and Nita. Lauren then married Joan
Lenz, December 20, 1969, in Janesville, WI. Joan passed
away, February 24, 1998.
Lauren worked for many years at JATCO in Janesville
before moving to Friendship, Wisconsin in 1975. He retired
from Grande Cheese, Friendship, WI in 1989. He then worked
for Adams County Memorial Hospital Home Health and Immanuel
Lutheran Church. He was always willing to help out anyone
with a project no matter how large or small. His quality
control motto was "you can�t see it from the creek."
Lauren is survived by his children: Galen (Sandy),
Janesville, WI, Shirlene (Gail) Dietz, Crystal Lake, Il,
Alan (Terri), Janesville, WI, Nita (Gary) Tewksbury,
Friendship, WI.
Grandchildren: Dean (Lea) Humphrey, Elgin, IL, Susan
(Masami) Imai, Middletown, CT, Rebecca Humphrey (Coy
Hillstead), Minnetonka, MN, Robert Humphrey (Jess Mattrisch),
Whitewater, WI, Jennifer (Bryan) Bullock, Darien, WI,
Bridgette (Dennis) Mendrzycki, Janesville, WI, Michael
(Nikki) Humphrey, Janesville, WI, Gregory (Karin) Humphrey,
Janesville, WI, Michelle Schaller, Janesville, WI, Joshua
Humphrey, Waukesha, WI, Sara Knight, Middleton, WI, Rebecca
(Jason) Hook, Madison, WI, Nicole Roberts (Hector Guzman),
Rockford, IL, Heather (Nick) Taormino, Janesville, WI, Todd

great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Lauren was predeceased by his parents, brother, Donald,
sister, Evelyn Richey, brother-in-law John Richey and
grandson Geoff Knight and great-grandson Edward Dean
Humphrey.
Lauren was deeply touched by all who knew him and will be
remembered as a compassionate caring man. The oft repeated
stories generally had a deeper meaning if one would only
listen and think as long as he did before speaking.
Lauren�s family would like to extend a special thanks to
the staff of Maple Crest Care Centre, Belvidere, Il for
providing a loving home for our father these last years. You
will always be in our hearts.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 5, 2008, from 4 to 6
PM at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 243 N Linden St,
Adams, WI 53910. The funeral will follow at 6 PM. Burial
will be in Big Creek Cemetery, Sparta, WI on Wednesday,
August 6, 2008, at 10 AM. Roseberrys Funeral Home,
Friendship, WI is assisting the family.
