Vera Jensen, 95 originally from Adams and of Milwaukee
County, died peacefully at home on January 18, 2008 in
the company of family.
She was born in Adams County to Ulric and Mildred (Shorey)
Warren. She and her brothers and sisters had a family
band. They enjoyed many hours entertaining people at
local barn dances and in the living rooms of friends.
On December 25, 1931 she married Chester Jensen. As a
young married couple they traveled with a road
construction crew. Her husband ran heavy equipment
while Vera provided laundry services. After the birth
of their daughter, Virginia in 1936, they started their
truck farm in Adams County near Coloma. Vera and
Virginia drove their produce to markets throughout the
state for 14 years. After Virginia graduated from high
school, Chester and Vera closed the truck farm and moved
to Milwaukee. Chester
worked as a millwright. Vera spent most of her working
years in Milwaukee with
A.C. Sparkplug and Bucyrus Erie. In retirement she
mastered her skills as a crafts woman. Her many
creative endeavors made her a popular exhibitor at
crafts fairs throughout
Milwaukee County.
Sadly, her husband Chester Jensen died of pneumonia in
May of 1999. In 2001 Vera started a loving
companionship of seven years with George Brotzman.
George tenderly cared for Vera until her passing.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband
Chester, her parents; two brothers, Jim (Alfred) Warren,
Buzzy (Forest) Warren; two sisters Iva (Myrtle) Krueger,
Leone (Addie) Blatchley; one great granddaughter, Megan
Davis and one grand daughter-in-law, Lena Davis.
She is survived by her beloved partner, George Brotzman;
daughter, Virginia (Thomas) Davis, four grandchildren
Thomas (Tobi) Davis, David (Dianne) Davis, Debbie (Dimitri)
Davis, and Timothy (Barbara) Davis; one sister Belva
(Harold) Sonnenberg; and many nieces, nephews, and other
family members.
A visitation will be held Thursday, January 24 at 11:00,
funeral services at 12:00 and lunch at 1:00 at South
Burr Oak Methodist Church in Coloma. Roseberrys
Funeral Home of Friendship is assisting the family.
