Wilbur
Hans Fritz, age 80, of rural Adams, Wisconsin died on Monday
May 12, 2008 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in
Madison, Wisconsin. He passed away peacefully following a
brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at
2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Adams Trinity
Lutheran Church in Adams, Wisconsin. Rev. Karyn D.
Bodenschatz will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 12
noon and then again from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service
on Saturday at Adams Trinity Lutheran Church. Military rites
will be offered at the service by the Adams VFW Post #6279;
the Adams American Legion Red Cloud Post #250; and the Grand
Marsh American Legion Snyder-Richardson Post #273.
Interment will be private at a later date at the Townline
Cemetery, Twp of Springville, Wisconsin.
Wilbur was born January 3, 1928 in the Twp of
Springville, Wisconsin to Arnold J. and Anna M.
(Christensen) Fritz. He attended a one-room grade school and
graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School. After graduation
Wilbur served his country in World War II with the 11th
Airborne Division in the South Pacific. He was a
Commissioned Officer and served in the Reserves until 1955.
After military service, Wilbur returned to the home farm and
on October 21, 1950 he married Ruth Ann Jensen in Arkdale.
Together they farmed in Springville and Easton Townships for
57 years.
She survives along with their four children Susan
(Douglas) Alderman of Plain City, OH; Charles (Elizabeth)
Fritz of Fitchburg, WI; Roberta (Kim) Ritchhart of
Friendship, WI; Robert Fritz of Wisconsin Dells, WI; seven
grandchildren: Keith Fritz, Brian Fritz, Chris Gorder, Jenny
Gorder, Stacy Alderman, Jimmy Alderman, and Jessie Fritz.
Also surviving is a brother, Arnold Fritz of Wisconsin
Rapids, WI along with numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins,
including Gary (Deb) Fritz of Concord, NC, who lived on the
farm while in high school. He is also dearly remembered by
special friends Randy Reuterskiold, Jeff Guerra, and the
Rodney Griffin family.
Active in his community, Wilbur served on the Adams
County Board of Supervisors and various committees, the
Castle Rock School Board, Easton-White Creek Lions Club, VFW
Post#6279, and the American Legion Red Cloud Post#250.
In his "spare" time Wilbur took pride in helping his
family successfully exhibit their registered Holsteins at
state and local dairy shows. He was also an avid hunter and
fisherman.
