Glen
P. Manthey, age 80, of Adams, Wisconsin passed away August
18, 2009 at the Moundview Memorial Hospital & Clinics in
Friendship, Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be 11:00a.m. on Saturday, August
22, 2009 at the Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship,
Wisconsin. Visitation will be 4:00pm-7:00pm on Friday and
again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m until the time of service at
Roseberry's Funeral Home. Military honors will be presented
by the Adams County Honor Guard. Cremation will follow the
traditional service.
Glen was born March 18, 1929 in Brooks, Wisconsin the
second son of Paul H. and Bessie E. (Stevens) Manthey.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1946 until
1949. Glen worked for Westfield Creamery and Badger
Ordinance following his return home from the Air Force. He
married Gladys E. McMahon on December 20, 1952 in Adams,
Wisconsin. This marriage was blessed with five children
Gary, Gene, Greg, Gloria & Glenys.
In the early 1950�s Glen served as the Chief of Police in
Adams and then in 1953 he was appointed the first Sheriffs
Deputy in Adams County where he served for many years. Glen
ran The Standard Oil Station in the 1960�s in Adams. He was
also the agent for Standard Oil for nearly 20 years. In
1981, Glen was a special deputy U.S. Marshall for the Mariel
Cuban Crisis at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin along with his sons,
Gary & Greg. He worked for Bula-Gieringer Farms for many
years until his retirement at age 78.
Glen loved to hunt and fish with his sons and his
friends. He also loved Coon hunting with his dog Susie,
daughter Glenys and many others. Glen enjoyed bee hunting
and many other outdoor activities. He also loved spending
time at "the farm" with his many pet animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Paul and Bessie
Manthey; brothers: Robert & Edward; father & Mother-in-law:
