Rose was born on July 23, 1921 to Harry and Mary (Voboril)
Roberts in Friendship, Wisconsin. She attended the Monroe
Center Grade School across the road from her home and
graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1938. Rose
was married to Ivan Carl Olson in Friendship, by Judge
Gilman, a family friend, on December 30, 1939. Throughout
their marriage Rose met Ivan with a hug every day when he
came in from work.
As a young girl growing up in the Depression Rose taught
herself to sew, worked at the Monroe Center store, cleaned
houses for neighbors and eagerly awaited the dances on the
weekend at the local town hall. One of her favorite memories
was sitting in their orchard munching apples. She was the
cook at Roche-A-Cri Grade School from its opening in 1954
until she retired in 1987. Rose really enjoyed talking with
the many children that attended the school during those many
years. Rose loved being with her grandchildren. She enjoyed
many activities; gardening, sewing, crocheting, traveling,
rummage sales and especially blue berry picking.
She attended church at Monroe Center and Big Flats
churches.
She is survived by sons Leroy (Lois) Olson, New Rome; and
Jerry (Patricia) Olson, Monroe Center; and daughter Pat
(Dane) Grover, Monroe Center; Grandchildren, Darin (Mary)
Olson, Kelly (Jack) Durham, Todd (Kim) Henriksen, Danny
(Tina) Olson, Natalie (Rob) Wenzel, Misty (Dale) Sachs,
Nathan (Ann) Olson, Theresa (Gene) Pearson, Monte Olson,
Chad (Melissa)Henriksen, Jamie (Bonnie) Henriksen, Jennifer
Olson, Chemere (Doug) Olson; and many nieces, nephews and
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband Ivan, her baby
daughter Darlene Elaine, her parents Harry and Mary Roberts,
her sisters Ruth (Smith) Hahn and Hazel Allen, son-in-law
Dennis Henriksen and nephew Roger Allen.
Her family would like to thank the loving caregivers at
Renaissance Assisted Living and Harmony Living Center for
their kindness and compassion shown to Rose. They would also
like to thank Roseberry's Funeral Home for assisting the
family.
