Eric Gustaf Holmquist, age 89, of Edmond, OK died Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City, OK.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30th at the Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin.  Friends may call at Roseberry's on Saturday, May 30th from 9 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment will be at the Quincy Cemetery, Adams County, Wisconsin.

Eric was born May 29, 1919, in the town of Quincy, Adams County, Wisconsin, to Gustaf Adolf and Olive Matilda (Holden) Holmquist. He worked on the family farm and cut pulp in the area until moving to Milwaukee in 1947 to pursue his dream of becoming a carpenter. Then Eric located in Waukesha County in 1951. He married Jeanette Ruth Avery on December 31, 1951, in 12th&Hays Christ Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They moved to Edmond, Oklahoma, in 2000, to be near their family.

Eric enjoyed family, puzzles, puns, recycling, building furniture and woodworking, Milwaukee baseball, Oklahoma football, architectural drawing, birds, flowers, bike riding on all the Wisconsin trails and in Oklahoma. In addition, he and his wife enjoyed visiting historical places of interest.

Eric was a member of the Carpenter's Union in Milwaukee for more than 50 years, and the Vintage Gardens Beautification Council.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents, and grand-nephew, David Lobenstein -Phoenix AZ.

Survivors include: his Wife, Jeanette, Daughter Sonya (Nicholas Pappas) Holmquist, Grandchildren Alexandra and Daniel Pappas, all of Edmond, OK. Sister, Ruth (Alfred, dec.) Heitman of Carlton Oregon (formerly Quincy). Sister, Shirley (Romie) Theisen of Wisconsin Dells, WI. Sister-in-law Amy Avery of Las Vegas, NV. Nephews: Joe (Stacy) Theisen, Cottage Grove WI, Mike Theisen, Chandler AZ. Nieces: Sharon (Joseph) Lobenstein of Carlton OR, Janet (Frank) Meoni, Henderson, NV; Terri Theisen of Atlanta GA; Suzanne (Dave) Gentleman, Fruita, CO; Kathleen Theisen, Danbury, CT; grand-nephews & nieces Matt Theisen of Atlanta, GA; Mark Lobenstein, Portland, OR; Lora Sauermann, Salem OR; Linda (Andrew) George, Round Rock, TX; and numerous cousins.

There was nothing Eric could not build, repair or grow. We will miss his sparkling blue eyes most of all.
