Kay Duane McCue, age 81, of Grand Marsh, Wisconsin passed away July 31, 2009 at his home in Grand Marsh, Wisconsin.

 

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor Dwight Condon will officiate.   

 

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday at Roseberry's Funeral Home.  Cremation will follow the traditional service. Military honors will be presented by Veterans Honor Guard of Adams County at the funeral home following the service.

 

Kay was born September 26, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Kenneth Jordan McCue and Geneva Balderson.

 

Kay married Audrey Klicko on August 7, 1948 in Waukesha, Wisconsin.  This union was blessed with five children. He was a cook in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. In 1975 he retired from General Motors in North Tonawanada, NY as a supervisor. After moving back to Wisconsin he tended bar at the Barrel House and Jeremiah�s.

 

In is free time Kay enjoyed cooking for family functions, hunting, fishing and listening to country-western music. Anyone who knew Kay remembers his great story telling and jokes. He enjoyed spending time outdoors cutting wood and gardening. He made sure his bird feeders were always full. He cherished his memories of all the summers with the grandchildren at the lake cottage.

 

He was a lifetime member of the Easton-White Creek Lions. He received the Melvin Jones Lifetime Achievement Award from his chapter. For 20 years he cooked for the Exceptional Citizens Christmas Party.  Kay was also a lifetime member of the DAV.

 

Kay was also involved in the Relay for Life, as one of the highest individual fund raisers for several years.

 

Kay was preceded in death by his father,  Kenneth McCue; mother,  Geneva Thorsen; step-father,  Hans Thorsen; step-mother,  Anne McCue and son,  Randy McCue.

Son:  Keith (Doris) McCue of Port Arthur, TX

Daughter:  Annette McCue of Burnsville, Minn

Son:  Rick (Brenda Cheung and Kalani) McCue of Grand Marsh, Wisconsin

Son:  Kevin (Barbara) McCue of Unicoi, TN

Grandchild:  Heather (John) Theisen of Dubuque, IA

Grandchild:  Josh McCue of Union Grove, Wisconsin

Grandchild:  Randi Miller of Port Arthur, TX

Grandchild:  Cody (Alexandra) McCue of Union Grove, Wisconsin

Grandchild:  Amanda (Corey) Johnson of Kenyon, Minn

Grandchild:  Ricky Lee McCue Jr. of Lexington, TN

Great-Grandchild:  Wesley Theisen

Great-Grandchild:  Bronson Miller

Great-Grandchild:  Lucy Theisen

Great-Grandchild:  Lillian Johnson

Great-Grandchild:  Chloe Miller

Sister:  Nordean (David) Richards of Waukesha, Wisconsin

Brother:  Thor (Joanne) Thorsen of Sullivan, Wisconsin

Brother-in-law:  Douglas Klicko of Grand Marsh, Wisconsin

He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends.
