Fred Charles Steffan Sr., age 90, of Adams, Wisconsin passed away July 24, 2009 at the Moundview Memorial Hospital & Clinics in Friendship, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2009 at the Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor Mark Stevens will officiate. Interment will be at the Gould Rock Cemetery, Town of New Chester, Adams County, Wisconsin. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard of Adams County.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at Roseberry's Funeral Home.

Fred was born December 26, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois to Fred C. Steffan Sr. and Mary (Papa) Steffan. He married Mary Lake on May 16, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. This marriage was blessed with two children Fred C. and Bonita L. Fred served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII and was a guard in Okinawa for Prisoners of War.

Upon his return from WWII to civilian life he worked for Douglas Aircraft in Chicago, Illinois. In 1949 Fred & Mary moved to Oxford where they worked and lived on their dairy farm until 2001 when they retired.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Fred & Mary (Papa) Steffan Sr.; and brother, Ray Steffan.

Grandchildren: Mary Ellen Zemke, Virginia Lee Zezulka, Laura Lynn Cory & Lisa Alta Bundy

Further survived by many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews & relatives.
