Herb was born August 31, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Edwin and Josephine Jones.

Following his High-School graduation from St. Patricks in Chicago, Illinois Herb was drafted into the United States Army.  While proudly serving during the Korean War, Herb was stationed in Germany where he was awarded   the Occupation Medal of Germany and the National Defense Service Medal.  Herb was honorably discharged in October of 1953 as a Corporal.

Herb returned home to Chicago where he found the love of his life whom he married on April 14.1956.  Together the Lord blessed them with three sons, 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

After retiring from Reliable Electric of Franklin Park Illinois after 30 years, Herb and Claudia moved to Wisconsin where he enjoyed spending time with his family.  Herbs hobbies included fishing, woodworking, bird watching, photography and wooden model ship building.  Herb enjoyed walks in the woods no matter what the season.  He often talked about a late night, early morning winter walk through the woods with his grown children and their wives, walking along through the cold crisp night sipping peppermint schnapps as they walked.  This was his fondest memory.  Herb also enjoyed quiet time sitting in his screen house quietly reading a book with his loyal little beagle, Toby by his side enjoying the warmth of the Summer days and the quiet of the cool Summer nights together.

Herb first and foremost enjoyed the company of his family and most of all he was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
