Albert W. Rickel, age 97, of
Friendship, Wisconsin died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at the
Moundview Memorial Hospital in Friendship, Wisconsin.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21,
2009 at the Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship,
Wisconsin. Elder Gary Elrod will officiate. Interment will
be at the Mt. Repose Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin.
Military honors will be presented by the Adams County Honor
Guard.
Visitation will be Saturday 10 a.m. prior to the service
at Roseberry's Funeral Home.
Albert was born January 26, 1912 in Fulton City, Indiana
to George S. and Alice C. (Weathon) Rickel. He was a veteran
of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps 83rd Bomb
Squadron, in the India/Burma Theater of the war. Albert was
honorably discharged on December 28, 1945 as a Sergeant.
He retired from Ford Motor in Missouri in 1972, after
twenty years as a mechanic. Albert continued repairing
anything and everything throughout his life.
Albert enjoyed making music, playing almost any
instrument available. He also loved to dance, and continued
dancing until the end. He was most fond of "old-time"
country music. Albert and Veda entertained at Villa Pines
Nursing Home and Lowell Center in Wisconsin Rapids for many
years.
Albert married Veda Renner on April 20, 1942 in
Friendship, Wisconsin by Judge Gilman. Veda passed away on
March 8, 1995. He later married LaRieta Hayes on May 7,
1998. LaRieta preceded Albert in death on May 18, 2003.
Albert was also preceded in death by his parents, George
and Alice Rickel; sisters: Agnes Burhite and Edith Williams;
brother, Orville Thompson; daughter, Patricia B. Wojtal; and
nephew and dear friend, Marvin Williams.

Daughter: Rebecca L, Rickel
of Kansas City, Missouri
grandchildren and
great-grandchildren in Wisconsin, Missouri, and Florida
as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
