George Elmer Jordan, age 94, of New Lisbon (formerly of
Batavia,
IL),
Wisconsin
died Friday, January 29, 2010 at his home surround by his
family.
Private family services are planned. Interment will be
at the River Hills Memorial Park,
Batavia,
Illinois, where he will be laid to
rest next to his wife on the family plot.
George was born August 2, 1915 in West
Chicago, Illinois to John and Florence (Mack) Jordan. He married
Elvera Irene Lucille Berggren on December 20, 1940 in St. Charles, IL.
George spent his youth in
West Chicago,
IL. and moved to Batavia, IL.
shortly after his marriage to Elvera Berggren. He
worked for thirty-five years as a foundry foreman, first at
Lindgren Foundry in Batavia, IL.
and later at Monarch Foundry in
Plano,
IL. George then worked as a
supervisor at Burgess Norton in
Geneva,
IL. until his retirement in
1984. Due to his advanced years, he spent the last
nine years living with his daughter and son-in-law in rural
New Lisbon, WI.
George enjoyed reading, playing cards with his family and
friends and watching sports, especially the Cubs, Bulls,
and Bears. He loved working outside planting his garden and
flowers. In his earlier years he also enjoyed his fishing
trips to Canada.
George was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church
in Batavia, Il. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader
for many years. George was also involved in starting the
Sioux Indian Dancers Group.
George was preceded in death by his wife Elvera Jordan,
parents John & Florence Jordan, brother James Jordan
and sister Lovina Riseling.
Survivors include his daughter Sandy (Bud) Kriese of New
Lisbon, WI; grandchildren, Michael Kriese of Streamwood,
IL., Daniel (Megan) Kriese of Sycamore, IL., Patrick (Wendy)
Kriese of Cortland, IL., and Shawn(Laura) Kriese of Two
Rivers, WI; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Rosetta
McIntosh of Rockford, IL.; and many nieces and nephews.
