Kenneth H. Jensen, 79, 3651 7th Street South, Wisconsin Rapids, died late Wednesday evening, March 10, 2010, at St. Joseph�s Hospital in Marshfield.

 

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at First English Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids.  Rev. Joshua Fite will officiate.  Military rites will be provided by VFW Post 2534.  Entombment will be in Forest Hill Mausoleum at a later date.

 

Ken was born in Adams County on April 13, 1930, to LeRoy and Isabelle (Johnson) Jensen.  He married  Renne Davis on May 21, 1954, in Arkdale.  She died on February 27, 2005.

 

He was employed in signal maintenance at Chicago Northwestern and Green Bay and Western Railroads for almost 40 years and retired in 1992.

 

He served his country in the U.S. Army from December 23, 1948, to July 20, 1950, and was stationed in Okinawa.

 

He was a member of the Adams-Friendship VFW where he ran the horseshoe tournament for the 4th of July celebration.  He was an avid Lincoln High School wrestling fan and had a passion for playing horseshoes and hunting turkeys.  He had an awesome vegetable garden and loved family cookouts.  He enjoyed babysitting his grandkids and was a real people person.

 

Survivors include his children:  Theresa (Mark) Thibodeau of Nekoosa and their children Ryan and Callie, Brian (Sue) Jensen of Plover and their children Brandon and Mathew, Julane (Rod) Ruder of Wisconsin Rapids and their daughter Kendra, Shelley (David) Gurrola of Minneapolis and their son Justin, and Craig (Trini) Jensen of Wisconsin Rapids and their sons Chase and Connor; one brother:  Albert (Carol) Jensen of Nekoosa; two sisters:  Lorraine Hoyer (Ray Drake)  and Harriet Brown (Dan Konietzke) of Wisconsin Rapids.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one sister (Dorothy).

 

Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to First English Lutheran Church or to the family, as an additional memorial is to be established in the near future.
