James Alva Rathermel, age 79, of Big
Flats, Wisconsin died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Wm S.
Middleton Memorial VA Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
Private family
services are planned for a later date. There will be no
public service.
James was born February 9, 1931 in
Friendship, Wisconsin to Alva and Jane (Sherman) Rathermel.
He attended the Murray Elementary School in Big Flats,
Wisconsin. James worked as a truck driver before joining
the Marine Corp in 1952. He was a veteran of the Korean
War. Upon his return to Wisconsin, he resumed his career in
trucking and began his own business in logging and pulping.
James continued to work until the time of his passing.
James enjoyed
working, visiting with friends, his pets, and hunting with
his family.
James was a member of the Red Cloud
American Legion Post #250, and a friend of the South Burr
Oak Methodist Church.
James was preceded
in death by his parents, Alva and Jane Rathermel; brother,
Francis Rathermel; and sister, Georgia Kouba;
