Jeanette Ruth (Avery) Holmquist, age 85, of Edmond, OK died Sunday December 27th, 2009 at Quail Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oklahoma City, OK, where she had been a resident for 2 years.

Memorial Services will be at Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m with visitation beginning at 9:00a.m. Interment will be at the Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, Wisconsin.

Jeanette was born September 24, 1924 in the town of Quincy, Adams County, WI to Thomas Franklin and Lois Mabel (Smith) Avery. She moved to Milwaukee, WI, and was a member of Christ Church, where she married Eric Gustaf Holmquist on December 31st, 1951 (on the anniversary of her parent's marriage). They lived in Brookfield, WI, in a home Eric built for her, until 1960, when they moved to Waukesha, WI, to the new home they built together. In September, 2000, they moved to Edmond, OK to be near her daughter, son-in-law and beloved grandchildren.

Jean was a homemaker, who liked to garden, bake cookies and sew. She often made Eric's flannel shirts, her daughter's dresses and grandchildren's Halloween costumes. She was a big sports fan, especially of the Milwaukee Brewers (and the Braves) and the Green Bay Packers. She loved flowers, particularly yellow roses and the orchids Eric would get her for Easter.

Jeanette was preceded in death by husband Eric (almost 1 year to the day); her parents Tom and Lois Avery, older brothers Earl Avery and Gordon Avery, and brother-in-law Alfred Heitman.

Survivors include:

Daughter and Son-in-law: Sonya Holmquist and Nicholas Pappas

Grandchildren: Alexandra and Daniel Pappas

Sister: Amy Avery

Sisters- and Brothers-in-law: Barbara (Earl) Avery, Billie (Gordon) Avery, Romie and Shirley (Holmquist) Theisen, and Ruth (Holmquist) Heitman.

As well as many nieces and nephews.

We miss her every hour of every day. We are grateful she is again with Eric, for they were inseparable, a devoted team in life.
