Krizan (nee: Kuzela). Patricia attended grade school at St.
John Nepomuk Catholic School and graduated in 1952 from St.
Catherines High School, both in Racine, WI.
As a teenager in 1947 to 1949, she played
baseball on the Racine Junior Belles on the green team. Pat
mainly played shortstop and left outfielder. She also
learned to pitch because her late sister Alice (Krizan)
Gissel was a catcher for the red team.
After graduation she
worked for SC Johnson Wax in Racine, WI until her marriage
to William J. Steberl, son of Joseph and Bessie Steberl of
Racine, on May 1, 1954, at St. John Nepomuk Church in
Racine. The couple settled in Oak Creek, WI to raise their
family. Pat was a member and Past-President of the American
Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 434 in Oak Creek. She worked at
Drews Department Store in Oak Creek as a manager for years
until she and Bill bought the Bear Trap Sports Shop in
Friendship, WI, which they owned and operated for nearly 30
years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post
6279 and a member of the St. Josephs Catholic Church, both
in Adams-Friendship, WI. She
has been retired for eight years, enjoying camping and
