Robert
William Cooney, age 73, of Monroe Center, Wisconsin joined
his beloved wife in Heaven Monday, October 11th, 2010 at the
Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.
Graveside services, with Military Honors presented by the
Adams County Honor Guard, will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday,
October 16, 2010 at the Monroe Center Cemetery. Friends may
call at Roseberry�s Funeral Home on Friday, October 15th,
from 5 to 7 p.m.
Bob was born August 14, 1937 in
Chicago, Illinois to George Thomas and Idella Martha
(Kearns) Cooney. In 1955, Bob enlisted in the US Navy.
During his enlistment as an Aviation Boatswain's Mate, he
visited various ports including Australia, Japan, The
Philippines, Hawaii, and California while aboard the USS
Ranger, USS Tarawa and USS Coral Sea. He rounded out his 20
year Naval career as a Company Commander at Great Lakes
Recruiting Command in Illinois, retiring in 1975 as a CPO.
He married Gloria Joy Banovec on July 6, 1967 in Friendship,
Wisconsin. Together, they had two children. He continued his
education at WWTC in LaCrosse, Wisconsin studying
AC/Refrigeration service allowing him to own and operate
Petenwell Refrigeration from 1979-1991.
Bob enjoyed
several sports, but none more than Football and NASCAR. He
traveled extensively and loved just relaxing on a beach and
spending time with his family. Bob was a member of DAV and
The Aviation Boatswain's Mates Association. He had a silent
strength along with a dry wit and loved to make others
laugh. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents,George T. and
Idella (Kearns) Cooney; wife,Gloria (2/20/1980);
step-father, Bart Daley.

Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and
friends.
