I am Skip Stachlewitz, oldest child
of Bob and Audrey's. I was saddened to hear about the
loss of your Dad. I will remember Uncle Ray
forever. Some of you may remember when we were young we
would come to Racine to visit Grandma and Grandpa
LeGault. My brother Mike and I would end up staying at
your house. Raising hell in the bunk beds while Uncle
Ray yelled at us throughout the night to "Go to sleep".
We watched them stuff sausage on the back porch one
trip. That was quite an experience. Between your Dad
and mine, my vocabulary increased immensely. However, I
learned later that most of those words weren't in the
dictionary and not particularly popular back at St.
John's Catholic School.
Aunt Frannie was a treat. One of
the most caring and generous souls I have ever met.
Every morning she would ask what we wanted for
breakfast. Didn't make any difference what we asked for,
she had it and fixed it. I got up one morning at your
house and she was frosting a cake she had just baked. I
asked what the cake was for. She replied "Breakfast". I
must have had a puzzled look on my face because she then
asked "Don't you like cake?". I said "Sure". She then
said "Well you should eat what you like." We then sat
down and had a piece of cake, for breakfast. Just the
two of us. I decided not to tell my Mom because I was
sure she wouldn't understand.
Lots of time has passed since those
simple days. I am glad that Uncle Ray kept his health.
That is certainly a blessing. My Mom is doing well but
the trip to Wisconsin would be tough for her. Although
she can't be there her thoughts will be with each of you
on Wednesday. My schedule will not allow Deb and I to
come either but our thoughts and prayers are with you
and your families.
Love, Skip
