Delvin Yaunkee

Delvin F. Yaunkee, 91, of Friendship, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at the Tomah VA Medical Center in Tomah, Wisconsin.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Adams VFW Hall in Adams, Wisconsin, with military honors presented at 12:00 noon.

Delvin was born on January 16, 1934, in Rockland, Michigan, to Raymond and Exilda Yaunkee. After graduating from high school in Michigan, he honorably served in the United States Marine Corps serving in the Korean War.

On February 23, 1957, Delvin married Annie P. Taylor in Waukegan, Illinois. Over the years, he worked at Farnum in Necedah, Villa Pines Living Center, and spent many years with Grande Cheese in Friendship.

Delvin had a passion for fishing, hunting, and, in his younger years, riding his motorcycle. He was also a devoted reverend, officiating numerous weddings and dedicating his time to helping the elderly and those in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Exilda Yaunkee; his wife, Annie Yaunkee; his sister, Shari Yaunkee, his brother, Sonny (Joann) Yaunkee; his sister, Madonna (Kuddy) Barba; and his son-in-law, Leonard E. Pollock Jr.

Delvin is survived by his children: Lori Pollock, Delvin F. Yaunkee II, Valerie (Frank) Tyner, Jennifer Yaunkee, and Ann Marie (Ronald) Denman. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

    Not a day goes by that I do not miss you. I haven’t allowed myself to grieve because the reality of your passing is too much right now.

    You embodied the spirit of kindness, charity and generosity. I can recall the unlimited number of times you had assisted people, asking for nothing in return. How often you’ve helped your own family, putting your own wants and needs aside for others in the family.

    You were the last bit of glue this family had to hold it together. And I fear, without you, we are going to fall apart. You meant everything to us. We love you and miss you so much Grandpa.

    Grandpa you ment so much to me and the kiddos you was always there when I needed you for the good and bad times you always bent backwards for me when I didn’t have a dad figure in my life you was always there for me I sure do miss you so much you will always hold a place in my heart I thank you for the life I had with you grandpa and the kids always coming to you when you came around and running to the trunk of your car getting the candy grandpa let me tell you this is so hard I love you with all my heart and thank you for you for putting your life out there to fight for are county grandpa you sure a deeply missed and loved Thank you again grandpa love you so much
