Alice Foat

foat301Alice Irene Foat, age 86, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Sauk County Health Care Center in Reedsburg, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Davis Corners United Methodist Church.  Pastor Wesley Jacob will officiate.  Interment will be at the Davis Corners Cemetery, Town of Jackson, Adams County, Wisconsin.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home, 512 Main St. Friendship, Wisconsin 53934, and on Monday from 12 Noon until the time of service at the church.

Alice was born June 29, 1927 in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin to Otto W. and Norma (Bowser) Kaleas.   She graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School.  She worked at Miklics Store in Wisconsin Dells until she married William John Foat on May 31, 1947 in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.  They farmed together from 1948 in Jackson Township until William passed in 1985.  Alice continued to live on and manage the family farm until 2008.

Alice enjoyed collecting rocks, stamps and coins; being outside, mowing her lawn, loved her cats, cooking and baking, and spending time with her daughter.  She also enjoyed traveling with her daughter, both here and abroad.  They took trips to Canada and one trip to the middle-east where they developed a fondness for camels.

Alice was a member of Davis Corners United Methodist Church, she enjoyed helping the United Methodist Women with the church’s many benefit dinners and bake sales, and was very involved with the church’s expansion in 2001.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Norma Kaleas; husband, William John Foat; two infant sons; two brothers, Henry and Wayne Kaleas; and great-grandson, Jonathan Douglas Nelson-Smith.

Daughter:  Beverly Nelson of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin

Granddaughter:  Renee (Graham) Nelson-Smith of Saskatchewan, Canada

Great-Granddaughter:  Deidre Nelson-Smith of Saskatchewan, Canada

Further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
