Andrew D. “Dan” Gurin, age 63, of Necedah, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 22, 2019, at his home.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Rev. John K. Stake will officiate. Interment will be at the St. Leo Catholic Cemetery in Friendship. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.
Dan was born May 7, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois at the Great Lakes Naval Base to Andrew and Wilhelmina (Bush) Gurin. Dan’s roots in Wisconsin started early in life with his grandparents owning property in Necedah. He would spend his free time fishing by the bridge in town. After moving from Chicago, he bought a cabin in Big Flats and spent time with his amigo buddies, Tom Gurin, Rick Sedevic, Ron Amell, and Chuck Augel. He worked at getting his mother and sister out of Chicago and into the life that he loved in Wisconsin. They later purchased property in Cottonville.
Dan’s route to a new fishing spot in Petenwell took him past a bar called the Old Mill where he met his future fiancée, Pat 20 years ago. In that time frame, he followed a long-time dream of operating a Bait Shop along the River. Dan’s Damn Bait Shop came into existence for 8 years. Dan was well known for his annual kids fishing tournament, no kid ever left without a prize which would include bikes and other various items from the bait shop. He had a soft heart for the kids and if one came without a vest, he would provide one for them, so they were safe on the water. Dan didn’t make much money but made so many friends from Milwaukee, Chicago, and Madison who enjoyed his personality and a place to unwind on the deck and listen to guest entertainers like Yukon who he is sure to meet up with in Heaven.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his Fiancée, Patricia Jodarski; daughters, Brandy (Alex) Gurin, Kimberly (Jason) Gurin-Clark, and Danielle Konsavich; brother, Tom (Dawn) Gurin; sister, Pauline Gurin; brother, Robert Gurin; grandchildren, Justiss, Andrew, Alyssa, Kelsey, Dakota, and Chance; great-granddaughter, Kataleya; nieces & nephews, Billy (Nina), Jennifer, Kyle, and Zach Gurin and his faithful dog Honey.
Dan touched many lives but no one more than his soul mate partner Pat and his fur buddy Honey. There’s probably a sign on heaven’s door that says, “Gone Fishing”. Dan’s favorite saying was “I love you more.”

So sorry for your loss Pat. Just know that Dan is up in heaven looking down on you sending his love and hugs when you need them. Just keep on trudging along, I am not saying it will get a lot easier ( even 12 years later the pain still remains) but you can do it!! Know that people love you, and keep a lookout for those beautiful red cardinal birdies out there looking for you, bringing a smile from your Dan❤️
