He was born on August 26, 1923 to Clarence and Esther Halverson in North Beaver Creek, Wisconsin. When Curtis was a young man, his parents moved to Tremp-Coulee where Curtis helped with the family farm. After the death of Curtiss parents, the Jerome Gusk family took him in and cared for him.

In 1981 Curtis moved to Adams County and lived close to his sisters Lila Olson and Myrtle Gurecki and their families.

After a few years of living in rural Adams County, Curtis moved to town. He was well known around town for walking around with his friend and roommate Don. Curtis and Don would pick up aluminum cans in peoples yards. At one point an article was printed in the local paper commenting on Curtis and Don and what wonderful men they were.

Years ago, Curtis enjoyed the times he spent at Ranks Bar listening to Beulah Rank play the organ. He loved to dance and listen to music.

Those who knew Curtis, knew that he was the most gentle and harmless man there was. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word in his heart.

Curtis loved to participate in the winter dances held at Cedar Shack for the Exceptional Citizens of Adams County. He especially enjoyed working at the Northstar Adult Activity Center where he leaves behind many friends.
Curtis lost his friend Don a few years ago, and at that point he was put in the loving care of Penny and Gary Maleski. Penny and Gary where exceptionally loving and caring towards Curtis and his needs, their family went out of their way to make Curtiss life a happy one.

Curtis lived with Penny and Gary, his friend and roommate Bert Lumby and his best friend in the world-his dog Peeky up until his hospitalization and death.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother.

He leaves behind his four sisters: Junice Severson, Milwaukee, WI
Genevieve Johnson, Melrose, WI;Myrtle Gurecki, Adams, WI; and Lila Olson, Friendship, WI. Also mourning his passing are many nieces, nephews and friends.
