Cynthia Decorah

Cynthia Mary Decorah, age 83, of La Crosse, Wisconsin passed away Saturday, October 08, 2022 at Serenity House in Tomah, Wisconsin surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2022 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor John Barker will officiate. Interment will be at the Mt. Repose Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Friday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.

Cynthia was born October 12, 1939 to Arthur and Cynthia (Denny) Decorah. She was very proud to have worked for the Ho-Chunk Nation for 33 years. Cynthia often worked more than 8 hours a day. She was on the TAU Board for many years. Cynthia was also a member of the Andrew Blackhawk American Legion Auxiliary Unit #129 of Black River Falls, Wisconsin. She was a descendant of Red Arrow.

Cynthia loved spending time with her family and friends. She was always “on the go.” She was a huge Packer fan, and enjoyed going to the casino.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Vera Van Sehoyek, Alvina Blinski; Arthur Decorah, Donald Decorah, Betty Oscanini, and Richard Decorah.

Cynthia is survived by children: Lorna Loken, Jeff Schmitz, and Roger Schmitz; her siblings: Jean Harvey, Rose Davison, Donna Summers, and Margaret (Skip) Showers; Grandchildren: Danielle, Melissa, and Jonah; nine great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Serenity House, each and every person on staff were “Angels from Heaven.” We are filled with gratitude for all the love and care you gave to our mother and ourselves. God bless everyone of you!
