He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1954 and later the Conservation Program at UW Stevens Point. Dean began working at the Necedah Ranger Station in 1957, working fire control. He transferred to the Friendship Ranger Station the next year. Later he was asked to fill in for a few weeks at the Dells Ranger Station and ended up staying there for 33 years. In addition to that, Dean worked as a deputy warden for Adams County, a deputy Sheriff under Bob Farber and also worked at Mirror Lake and Buck Horn State Parks.
He married Barbara Fritschler on July 25, 1986 in Grand Marsh, Wisconsin.
Following Dean’s retirement, he created Morgan’s Trees. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, playing in his woods, and traveling to his cabin in Winter, Wisconsin.
Dean was very community minded, he was instrumental in creating the New Chester Volunteer Fire Department, the Grand Marsh Lions Club, and he and his brother, Jr. started the first snowmobile trail in the county (perhaps it was one of the first in the state). He was also a member of the Grand Marsh Development Corporation.
Dean began his County Board career in 1976 when he finished out his father’s term. After his retirement, he began a 22 year distinguished career on the County Board. Dean really enjoyed fighting for the people.
Dean was a member Grand Marsh Congregational Church (now known as United Church of Christ).
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Milfred H. and Dorothy I. Morgan; brother, Mildred T. “Junior or M.T.” Morgan; sister-in-law, Jewel Morgan; and father-in-law, Charles Fritschler.
