Born in Minneapolis, MN on September 7th, 1975, Desi grew up with a zest for life and a natural ability to connect with anyone. Desi had many passions throughout life that included riding his motorcycle, watching football (Go Vikings!), beating his brothers at pool, and anything having to do with the outdoors; especially showing off his back swing. However, more than anything, his deepest passion was being a proud father to Alexis, Cloe and Molly, who were the center of his world, as well as being a Grandpa to Amira. Desi’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family; whether it was cheering on his children’s sports achievements, sharing stories while grilling out at Devil’s Lake, or simply being there to tell them how much he loved them.
Desi was known for his genuine kindness and vibrant personality. He had a knack for making people laugh, lifting spirits, and creating a sense of belonging. Our lives were bigger, better and brighter with him in it.
Desi is survived by his wife Paula, his daughters Alexis, Cloe, and Molly, his granddaughter Amira, his mother Christine, his step-mother Terry, his brothers David (Shayda) and Darren (Tonya), his nieces Olivia, Emily, Naara, and Rhema, and nephew Judah. As well as his loving in-laws, extended family, and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, David Blackford Sr, paternal and maternal grandparents, and aunts and uncles.
A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Dan, will be held this Thursday, December 19th at 12pm at Walnut Hill Church in Baraboo. A celebration of life will follow this summer.
Rest in Peace, Desi. May the fairways be green and the touchdowns always in your favor. We love you, forever.
