Donald G. Hyler, age 88, of Adams, Wisconsin went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Fosnow Adult Family Home in Friendship where he received excellent care since October 25, 2011.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor Doug Schauer will officiate. Interment will be at the Colburn-Leola Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.
Donald was born February 20, 1928 in Allenville, Wisconsin to Clarence and Ruth (Derr) Hyler.
He graduated from Omro High School in 1946.
Donald enlisted in the United States Navy on April 27, 1945 serving in WWII. He was honorably discharged on July 20, 1946. Donald then enlisted in the United States Army on July 23, 1947 where he served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on June 3, 1952.
Donald worked at Nekoosa Paper Mill for 31 years before retiring in 1991.
He married Roberta Durkee and together they fostered 25 children, following her passing in October of 1992 Donald kept busy with farming and fishing.
He later married Michele M. Mackanin on October 5, 1993 in Wautoma, Wisconsin.
Donald enjoyed farming, fishing, storytelling, Christian TV, watching baseball (Brewers & Phillies), and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Donald was a member of the Arising Christian Church. Donald assisted Bill Waters in starting “His Oasis Music Festival” in Plainfield, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Ruth Hyler; first wife, Roberta Hyler; Six Brothers, Two sisters, and One grandson.

Daughter: Carole (Karl) Laustrup of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
Daughter: Beth Swaney of Bangor, Wisconsin
Son: Alan (Carol) Graske of Adams, Wisconsin
Son: Jon Graske of Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Eleven Grandchildren
No flowers please, it was Don’s wish that any donations be made to the Arising Christian Church Building Fund in Friendship.

To Don’s family – We have many fond memories of Don from his years in Hancock and at the Wesleyan Church. He was always ready with a helping hand. Ice skating and and fishing on his pond were always happy events. Our sympathy goes out to you.

We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Don Hyler, he was a great guy and great friend, a excellent example for us all. I always thought it was awesome that he grew up in Omro,(Omro Foxes) and went to High School with my folks back in the 40’s and I ran into him & we became good friends in Adams County, Don had a deep faith, he was always reading his Bible & talking about the Lord, rest in peace Don, it was an honor to know you! Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife & family.
