Donald L. Howland

Donald L. Howland, age 87, of Friendship, Wisconsin died Thursday, July 12, 2007 at his home following a battle with emphysema.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Father James P. McNamee will officiate. Interment will be at the Mt. Repose Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin. Military rites will be offered at the graveside service by the Adams VFW Post #6279; the Adams American Legion Red Cloud Post #250; and the Grand Marsh American Legion Snyder-Richardson Post #273.

Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, July 16th, at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.

Donald was born April 17, 1920 in Adams, Wisconsin to Avalon B. and Linda (Diesel) Howland. He worked for the Chicago NorthWestern Railroad. Donald married Ann T. Verdick on September 25, 1940 in Winona, Minnesota. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theater. Donald rejoined the railroad following the war, and retired after 38 years.

Donald enjoyed fishing, traveling, hunting, and railroading activities. He was a member of the VFW Post#6279.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Irene Doyle; and grandson, David Strong.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Josephs Catholic Church Building Fund.

Grandchildren: Don, Dan, Joe, Kim, Sam, Chris, Melissa, Matt, Elda, Katy, Cathy
Great-Grandchildren: Samantha, Bethany, Braedon, Nicholas, Dane, Cheyenne
Further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
