Doris Melissa Elderkin, age 88, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died September 4, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor Dennis Schueler will officiate. Interment will be at the Olin Cemetery, In the town of Springville, Adams County Wisconsin. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.  
Doris was born July 10, 1921 in Dell Prairie Township, Adams County Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Herbert Lee Van Alstine and Emma Kukral. She had one sister Violet. Doris married Leland Merrick Elderkin on May 24, 1943 in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. They had 49 years together and 4 children, Edwin Leland Elderkin of Wisconsin Dells, WI, Karen Maxine Todd of Hasting Fl., Elizabeth Mae Franklin of Wisconsin Dells, WI., and Donald Lee Elderkin who passed away on July 3, 1971.
Doris enjoyed quilting, sewing and working in the garden. Her pride and joy were her pets. Doris enjoyed visits from her children, relatives & neighbors.  
She was preceded in death by her Parents: Herbert & Emma Van Alstine; Husband, Leland Elderkin; Son, Donald Elderkin; Grandson, Walter Elderkin; Son-in-law, David Wilcox; and Son-in-law, Michael Schweda.

Granddaughter: Laura Jones of Florida
Granddaughter: Brenda (Tom) Benak of Pomake City, Maryland
Granddaughter: Michelle Kay Schweda of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
Grandson: Daniel Lee Schweda of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
15 great grandchildren & 3 great great grandchildren
Sister: Violet (Fritz) Jerjens of Baraboo, Wisconsin

Doris was a good old gal and a survivor through her life. The family can be proud of her and she did love you all. I was one of her medical appointment drivers and got to know her.
