Douglas H. Doughty “The Mayor”, age 88, of Grand Marsh, Wisconsin died Monday, October 29, 2012 at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Father James P. McNamee will officiate. Interment will be at the Gould Rock Cemetery, Town of New Chester, Adams County, Wisconsin. Military honors will be presented by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Friends may call at Roseberry’s Funeral Home on Sunday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Douglas was born September 30, 1924 in Arkansas, Wisconsin to Wilfred and Annabelle (Caturia) Doughty. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army. Douglas married Mabel V. Andrews on January 6, 1946 in Monterey, CA. The couple lived in California until 1948 when they returned to Wisconsin. They made their home in Durand, WI where Douglas worked as a foreman in building pole barns. Douglas worked for Milwaukee Cylinder and later Ladish Corporation from which he retired in 1972.
Douglas enjoyed watching tractor pulls, stock car racing, wrestling, going to church, and spending time with his family.
Douglas was a member of the American Legion Red Cloud Post #253 and the VFW Post #6279 in Adams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Mae Doughty.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Isabelle Doughty; daughter, Carol; sister, Dorothy; and brother, Wilfred.
