Eugene Long

Eugene Gene C. Long, age 77, of Adams, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on June 7, 2011 at the Moundview Memorial Hospital & Clinics in Friendship, Wisconsin after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be held at Yurs Funeral Home in St. Charles, Illinois on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 from 4:00p.m. until 7:00p.m.

Gene was born October 26, 1933 in Park Falls, Wisconsin to Charles and Anna (Seifert) Long. He attended schools in Park Falls and then worked as a lumberjack for two years prior to moving to St. Charles, Illinois in 1954. Gene then entered into an apprenticeship to become a carpenter, worked for several companies before retiring as superintendant for Driessen Construction after 30 years of service to that company. In 1996, he moved to Adams-Friendship and built his retirement home.

Gene enjoyed his annual fishing trips to Red Lake, Canada; hunting, archery and woodworking. Gene was an avid Chicago Bears and later a Green Bay Packers fan.

Gene was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, the Illinois Carpenters Union, St. Charles Sportsman Club, and Aurora Land Archery Club.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Long; and an infant sister.

Step-son: Rodney (Laura) Osborne of St. Charles, Illinois
Grandson: Scott Parsons of South Elgin, Illinois
Grandson: Brian Parsons of St. Charles, Illinois
Grandson: Wade Lindquist of Elburn, Illinois
Dearest Friend: Barbara Bollow of Adams, Wisconsin
Further survived by nieces, cousins, and his special companion, Buddy.

    I had the fortune of meeting Gene through his friendship with my father, Arlan. Hunting buddies, they enjoyed time together having a ‘deer camp’ in the fall. My sympathies go out to his family and his longtime friend, Barb Bollow. Rest In Peace, Gene.
