Eunice Elaine Jorgensen (nee Nelson) was peacefully called to be with her Lord on the evening of January 29, 2013, after 91 years on this earth. Eunice was the first of three daughters of Marvin and Clara Nelson of Arkdale. She spent her formative years in the family home north of Arkdale, attending the Thompson School and Adams-Friendship High School, graduating in 1939. She met a handsome young soldier named Robert and they were married on April 15, 1947.
Eunice was a kind and gentle soul, that rare sort who has a smile for everyone. Anyone that knew her can attest. A devoted wife and mother, she loved her husband and sons, her parents, and all her relatives. Eunice especially loved children (just ask her grandchildren and great-grandchild) and animals, and even in her final days she would have a big smile upon encountering either. Eunice was a remarkably talented seamstress and made most of her own clothes throughout her life. Eunice was a lifelong member of Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church.
Eunice is survived by Robert, her beloved husband of 66 years, and two proud sons, Daniel (Barb) of Ripon, and David (fiancé Cindy Lang) of rural Fond du Lac, four grandchildren (Daniel Jorgensen, Nikki Jorgensen, Jenny Jorgensen, and Laura Jorgensen) and one great grandson (Cooper Johnson). In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Joan (Ray) Kedrowski of Ripon, and Laurel (Bernard)Lobenstein of Middleton. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service to celebrate Eunice’s life will be held at the Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church in Arkdale, WI on Monday, February 4, 2013, at 11:00 am.
Eunice will be deeply missed, but those who love her are comforted that she is now with her Lord.
It is requested that memorials be directed to Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church in Arkdale, WI.
Dear Bob, Dan and Dave,
I am sorry to hear of the passing of Eunice – please accept my sympathy. I remember how nice she was to my family and me, especially when I came to your door every two weeks to collect for the newspaper. She was always so warm and friendly – always with a smile too. Sincerely, Jeff Prellwitz
Bob, Dan, and Dave, my deepest sympathy to you all. Eunice was an amazing women, whom I admire to this day. She has given many gifts, and the best gift was that of love. She had much to give and she did so with complaining. I pray you are all comforted at her passing, but her spirit will go on. Blessings ! Nellie Jorgensen-Dymond
Dear Bob, Dan and Dave,
Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of Eunice. Living across from you for 20 years, I loved Eunice for sharing her time with us. She welcomed all 5 of my children anytime they came to her door. She kept an eye on the Eastwood Ct neighborhood; so I always knew what what going on.
And rummage sales! She spent many hours rummaging through the city. If one of the neighbors needed something, like I wanted an old sturdy meat grinder, sure enough, she found one. And in great shape and at a good price. Rummage sales she produced in her spotless basement were visited by half the city, I bet, because people knew THE Eastwood Ct. sale would have clean stuff, good prices and us neighbors having fun and good food. Eunice, those days were precious. All of us loved you — Barb, Pat, Carol, Ruth and Joan.
My heart goes out to her family and all the friends who have lost her. Sara (Prellwitz) Freund
David and family…so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I remember her as such a warm and loving person. May the Lord comfort you in your grief. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sharron
