Frederick Pete A. Prentice, age 80, of Merrill, Wisconsin died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be 12 Noon on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the New Life Assembly of God in Plainfield, Wisconsin. Pastor Howard Kruize will officiate. Interment will be at the Plainfield Cemetery, Plainfield, Wisconsin.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at New Life Assembly of God.
Pete was born February 3, 1931 in Valparaiso, Indiana to Hazard P. and Edna M. (Matson) Prentice. He was grew up in Plainfield, WI with the Hank and Thelma Sherman family. He served in a tank division in the Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of a Purple Heart. Pete married Betty Cheney on June 9, 1956 in Valparaiso, Indiana. He worked in the construction field for most of his life.
Pete enjoyed working, hunting, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends.

Pete was preceded in death by parents, Hazard and Edna Prentice; step-parents: Hank and Thelma Sherman; brother, Vernon (Barbara) Stocks; sister, Edna Radtke; brother, James Prentice; brother, Philip Prentice; sister, Florence Borden; and brother, Frederick Sherman.
Survivors include his daughters: Teresa (James) Bovee of Nekoosa, Wisconsin and Lisa (Todd) Schulz of Amherst Junction, Wisconsin; grandchildren: Tanya (Curt) Spurlin, James Bovee Jr., Jacques (Jamie) Bovee, John (Maggie) Bovee, Derek Keenlance, Diamantina Bovee and Travis Worzella; great-grandchildren: Ryan Bovee Zack Studey, Jaiden Bovee, Gavin Warren, Jack Bovee, Cate Bovee, Dustin Spurlin, Devyn Spurlin, Noah Spurlin, and Mason Spurlin; sister, Nancy Ostrander; brother, Edward (Joan) Sherman; sister, Nola (Jerry) Sell; Lyle Sherman; brother, Jack (Bernie) Sherman; brother, Harvey Sherman; sister, Myra (Cal) Zuetz; brother, Dale (Joane) Sherman; and sister-in-law, Elva Prentice.
