Harry LaVerne Hazel, 79, of White Creek, Wis., passed away Monday, June 28, 2010 at Our House Senior Living-Memory Care Center in Wisconsin Dells.
Harry was born August 31, 1930 in Eastman, Wis., the son of Dorance and Lydia (Duha) Hazel. On August 31, 1957, Harry was united in marriage to Wanda Thorne in Wisconsin Dells. This marriage was blessed with five daughters.
Harry served in the U.S. Navy from November 12, 1948, and served in the Korean War where he was discharged on December 3, 1953. He worked at Badger Ordinance in Baraboo, Wis., and was a 45 year member of the Operating Engineers Local 139 as a heavy equipment operator. As well as working the Hazel family farm established in 1941 by his father until moving to Friendship, Wis. in 2006.
He was a member of the VFW Post 6279, American Legion Post 0273 and White Creek Congregational Church. Harry enjoyed participating and teaching three generations of family members his favorite hobbies of hunting and maple syrup processing. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends at the farm, teaching them to ride bikes, drive tractors, play baseball and participating in Ante-Ante Over, and the highly competitive, but always fun, 25 member plus kickball games.
Harry is survived by his wife, Wanda of 52+ years; daughters, Melody (Bob) McFarlane; Gail (Joe) Torkelson; Jackie Hazel; Chris (Jeff) Lange; and Tammie Hazel. Grand children: Jody (Tom) McManus; Eric Torkelson (Kim Sanders); Nick Hiller; Bradley Barton (Danielle Clemmerson); Ashley Barton (Adam Seymer); Matt Hiller; and Gunther Lange. Great-grandchildren Trevor McManus, Trenton McManus, Bryce Hiller, Jadyn Torkelson, and Halle Hiller. Brothers: Arlie (Carol) Hazel, and Jerry (Lyn) Hazel. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorance and Lydia Hazel, sister Charlotte Schachtner, and his mother and father-in-law Dale and Illa Thorne.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Roseberryâs Funeral Home, Friendship. Pastor Dwight Condon officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, July 1, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, July 2, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Roseberryâs Funeral Home. Interment will be at the White Creek Cemetery, White Creek, Wis.

Wanda,Girls and Family I was so Sorry to here of Harrys passing our familys had alot of good times together.He will be truely missed by all who knew him and perhaps him and Mom and all his other Easton friends are having fun in Heaven right now. Bless you all!
