Ida Mae Payne, age 85, of Adams, Wisconsin died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Interment will be at the Monroe Center Cemetery, Town of Monroe, Adams County, Wisconsin.
Friends may call at Roseberrys Funeral Home on Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Ida was born January 16, 1925 in Strongs Prairie, Wisconsin to Joseph B. and Jennie (Hobart) Bankes. She married Donald R. Luke Sr. on January 3, 1942. This marriage was blessed with six children. Ida worked at Badger Ordnance during the Vietnam War. She moved to Illinois where she worked for Eaton Corporation. Following Donalds passing she returned to Adams, Wisconsin and married Darwin Payne on October 19, 1981.
Ida enjoyed crocheting, dancing, solving cross word and jig saw puzzles, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Ida was a member of the Baptist Church in Adams.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Jennie Bankes; husband, Donald R. Luke Sr.;2nd husband, Darwin Payne; son, John A. Luke (Vietnam); infant son, Joseph ; brothers: Albert, Richard, John, Alvin, and Harland Bankes; sisters: Hazel Grell and Katherine Schmoock; and great-grandson, William Roberts.
