Jack Donald Werner, age 81, of Wausau (formerly of Adams), Wisconsin died Saturday, May 17, 2014 at North Central Health Care Center in Wausau, Wisconsin.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adams, Wisconsin. Rev. John Krebs will officiate. Interment will be at the Gould Rock Cemetery, Grand Marsh, Wisconsin.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Jack was born October 14, 1932 in Springfield Township, Marquette County, Wisconsin to Emil August and Eva Pearl (Atkins) Werner. He grew up on the family farm, drove milk truck and set pins at Patrick’s Lake Bowling Alley as a young man. He married Rebecca Rosalie Banks on October 1, 1955 in Adams, Wisconsin. Jack entered the Army in in 1956 serving at Ft. Carson Colorado, Ft. Belvoir Maryland, and Stuttgart, Germany. His oldest son, John was born while Jack was stationed in Germany in 1957. Upon returning home to Grand Marsh, he worked for Arthur Overguard Construction, as a driver and mechanic. Jack became the Concrete Plant Manager in Adams for Arthur Overguard Construction, which later became known as Hiawatha Valley Ready Mix, where he stayed as Plant Manager until taking over the Wisconsin Rapids Plant for Wisconsin Valley Concrete Co. which later became Sebor Corporation. In 1992, he returned to his favorite job of driving dumptruck over the road for Sebor Corp. until his retirement in 2002.
Jack enjoyed working, spending time outdoors, going to old tractor shows/events, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Jack was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Emil August and Eva Pearl Werner; and wife, Rebecca “Becky” Werner.

The family would like to thank the entire nursing and support staff at North Central Health Care Lakeview Heights and Aspirus Hospice for their tender loving care over the past two years. They became Jack’s extended family.

John and Jim, I am very sad to hear of your loss. I remember your Dad well, and how he welcomed your friends whenever we stopped by the house. My heart and prayers go out to you and your families.

I have always had the utmost respect for Mr. and Mrs. Werner, it is truly a sad day. He made sure we had a safe place to play and set a fine example for us to follow (even if we didn’t realize it at the time). My deepest sympathies to John and James’ families… I will be sure to hug you when I see you my friends.
