James Henry Kamps, Sr.

James Henry Kamps Sr., age 79, of Rome, Wisconsin died Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Nekoosa Retirement Community in Nekoosa, Wisconsin.

Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20th, 2009 at the Rome Town Hall, 1156 Alpine Drive Nekoosa, WI 54457. (town hall is on the coroner of Hwy 13 and Cty D).

James was born August 23, 1929 in Five Points, Iowa to Henry and Genevieve (Fisch) Kamps. He grew up and graduated from High School in Iowa.

James married Irene G. Jarmuth on June 24, 1950 in Skokie, IL. They resided in Morton Grove Il. Irene died in 1973 and Jim continued to live in Morton Grove until January of 2003 when he moved to Rome, Wisconsin. James worked for Wells Manufacturing Company of Skokie for 42 years. He married Roberta (Nelson) Kamps in May of 2003 in Morton Grove Illinois.

James enjoyed fishing, taking walks and playing darts with friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Irene G. Kamps.

Surviving family members include Daughter, Dorothy (Paul) Mueller of Barnes, Wisconsin; Sons: James (Jacky) Kamps of Nekoosa, Wisconsin; David (Debbie) Kamps of Brillion, Wisconsin; Grandchildren: Dianne (Bob), Cheryl (Brian), Bill (Michelle), Suzen (Jeff), Jennifer (Keef),
Paul; Great-Grandchildren: Carter, Andrew, Patrick, Ethan, Austin, and Payton; Sister, Shirley Strait of Rock Island, IL; Brother, Wayne Kamps of Rock Island, IL; Wife, Roberta Nelson Kamps of Morton Grove, IL.

Roseberry’s Funeral Home is assisting the family.

    So sorry to hear of the passing of Cousin Jim. He reminded me of my Dad and his Uncle Vern Kamps. I am glad I got to see him and Bobbi in Dubuque a few summers ago.

    I am sorry to hear of Jims passing.I feel fortunate to have visited with Jim and Bobbi twice in the last few years; at Cousin Arlenes 80th birthday party in Dubuque and then at the cousin family reunion in Eagle Point Park in Dubuque. He was always a very kind and gentle man, much like his father, Henry and his Uncle Vern. To Bobbi, Dorothy, Jim and David along with your spouses and children, as well as to Cousins Shirley and Wayne you have my and Debbies sincere sympathy.
