  3. Jim Cherveny says:

I’m very sorry to learn of Jim’s passing. We were good friends from 8th grade through high school. I have many happy memories of the fun times with Jim. He always had some kind of adventure going on and it was exciting to be part of his excursions. We often served together as altar boys back in the days when we had to say our prayers out loud and in Latin. Jim would often cause me to start laughing in church with one of his many funny expressions, which would usually get both of us in trouble with our priest. He was the first of our gang to have his own car. He was generous to a fault and was always willing to give the rest of us rides wherever we needed to go. We enjoyed the early days of rock and roll, trying hard to dress and act like those fantastic Everly Brothers (he was more successful). Together, we scavenged junkyards, hunted squirrels, rode motorbikes, worked on cars, fished many streams and backwaters, and camped in the woods around Adams and Friendship. Jim was fun-loving, caring, giving person who could see the lighter side of everything. We lost touch after high school, but the memories are forever. Jim and his family will be in my prayers. Rest in peace, Jim, and thanks for the wonderful times during those great years.
