Sally, JC & family, Working with & knowing Jim was a blessing. He always made you feel good about yourself. Know that you are in my thoughts & prayers.
JC and family,
We send our condolences at the loss of a very special man from our community, you have been blessed to have had him in your lives.
I know this gets posted to people who didn’t know Jim but, it’s directed to those who did.
Wendy has gone to bed and I thought I’d stay up a while longer to finish something that I feels needs to be finished . . .
Went to Jim’s service today. Rest in Peace – – – GENTLE – MAN.
It was an incredibly touching service because those who really, REALLY knew him mourned not just their personal loss – but – the world’s loss – and then celebrated Heavens’ gain – and their gain for having Jim in their lives.
At the service, I was about a second an a half away from having the courage to stand up and tell you what I knew of Jim. But I didn’t stand. But then, again, no one did. They must have been thinking of their BEST memory with him. But, oh, how I wanted to stand. Then the Pastor said we’d have a chance to say something at the Cedar Shack . . . so I thought, maybe then. Again, no courage – but not a lot of chances either.
By The Way; Offer a prayer for a full recovery for those involved in the accident today. God’s speed for a full and complete recovery for those injured.
Back to what’s on my mind –
Had I taken that first opportunity at the chapel, I think it would have gone something like this:
– I didn’t know Jim as well most of you knew him, and, because of that I feel a lesser man . . . absolutely My Bad. I had the time – didn’t take it. – I could have made the effort . . . Didn’t make it. I regret that, and will, for a very, very long time.
I could have learned so much from Jim, but didn’t take the chance – the opportunity – and I missed the the experience. Thank God you’ve been blessed to know the people, like Jim, that have come into your life. He put them there for a reason. Find out why. It’s worth the effort.
I was given the privilege by his family to save Jims’ image in pictures at some family events. I thank you, God, for giving me the blessing of being able to capture a moment in time that will bring smiles to those who were there at that moment, who knew and loved Jim, and knowing they will be able to let those images resonate through the generations yet to come. Through You, I saw what he meant to his family, those foremost in his heart I’m sure, and in his heart of hearts were his friends.
Thank you, again, Lord for letting me be a part of Jim’s family. I am a better man because of it.
And, finally, to Jim …
Till we meet again, with God’s help – (and, you all know, I’ll need a lot of help) I look forward to getting to know you better.
Loved the life you lived.
Mark
So sorry for you loss.
Mr. Dummitt was a great family friend who I was always afraid of. When I was a kid he was always “tough” on me and as I grew older I finally realized it mainly just to amuse himself and my dad…I think he was also tough on me because he knew I was secretly in love with Tiger too! I will miss him as I am sure my dad will too. He was a great friend to my Dad when my mom died and helped him deal with the loss in a way only Jim could. Love – Burt
We are thinking of you with a heavy heart.
We are sending sincere condolences with the hope that some words will bring comfort as you share this loss.
Love and prayers to Sally and family. He will be sadly missed.
My heart goes out to each member of Jim’s family, to his many friends, & those he considered his extended family. I first met Jim & Sally at a summer party at Deb Roraff’s & was amazed at how friendly & welcoming he was. We had several conversations, always at either Deb’s or McDonald’s & his personality was always the same; warm, friendly & welcoming. He shared humor & knowledge, wise-cracks & wisdom with the same ease. Though my time knowing him was short compared to so many others, he impressed me. I will miss him. RIP Jim. You’re God’s right-hand – man now. Prayers to Sally, J.C., Deb & families. May God swiftly ease your grief.
JC and Family,
Sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Jim was one of the greatest men I knew. He was always so funny and lively. When I first met him he made me feel like part of the family right from the start. Against all odds with mine and my husband franks age differences he thought werea perfect match and told us that from the start. He always made me feel welcome and loved in a state, and city that I hardly knew anyone. And when me and my husband had troubles he was the one to help us through on to the way to a wedding…. Where we are very very happy and blessed to this day. Jim was a true friend. You don’t find many of those anymore. I shared many hugs, talks, football games, motorcycle rides, and church days with Jim and will Cherish them all. I saw him in good days and in bad. I know he’s not hurting anymore and I hope the good lord is looking out for and taking care of this wonderful friend of mine now. Because he will always be in my heart and be missed until we meet again. My prayers are going out to Mrs Sally and the family in this strong time of need we will not forget you and always still come to visit. 🙂 your other half may be gone from earth but he’s in heaven waiting.
