Joel Thomas Waite Jr.

Joel Thomas Waite Jr., 51, of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away on December 18, 2023. He was born on August 16, 1972. Joel was a sweet soul who cherished his family and friends. He loved exploring nature and music, especially his beloved heavy metal. He was a jack of all trades. Always willing to assist in any project. He was a great friend to many people. He made life long friends everywhere he went. Joe would give u the shirt off his back and always put others first. He always had a sense of humor and brought smiles to people’s faces.

Joel is survived by his daughter, Cheyenne (Jacob) Dyer, and his siblings: Jack (Jennifer) Zernia, Amber Zernia, Shanna (Jon) Regel, Myron (Stacey) Waite. He is also survived by his father, Joel Waite Sr., his stepfather, Gary Zernia, and his grandsons, Silas and Rhys. Joel will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews: Jacob Labiosa, Hudson and Sawyer
Zernia, Baylor, Conley, and Kaylee Smith, Jailyn Regel, Daemon, Cooper, and Abigail Waite. Jim, a great friend, who when Joel became sick, never left his side.

Joel was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert (Bud) and Melvina Roberts, and Gloria Winchester, as well as his mother, Diane Whitfield.

A combined celebration of life for Joel and his sweet mother Diane will be announced at a later date.

    I am so sorry to hear of Joel passing and 3 days after his Mom. 😢😇♥️😇 My heart breaks for everyone who loved him dearly. I remember him as being very kind. He was 2 years older than me and remember him well from Roche-A-Cri days. He definitely loved his heavy metal 🎸 🎶 🤘 as did so many of us at Roche-A-Cri!!! 😊 I remember him wearing a jean jacket with a band on the back and his longer 80’s hair. The good old days!!! I can’t remember which one. Maybe Iron Maiden?! My lovey (husband Curt) was the same age (and I see they shared the same birthday) and remembers him also as a very nice guy & going to some parties in high school. 😉 We are keeping y’all in our thoughts and prayers. 🙏✝️🙏
