John Curtis Lecy

John Curtis Lecy, age 73, died Friday, February 12, 2016 at Banner Boswell Medical Center in Maricopa County, Ariz.

John was born on May 3, 1942 in Chicago, Ill., to Clinton and Edith (Cameron) Lecy. The Lecy family moved to Adams, Wis. when he was very young. John graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1960 and served his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963. After an honorable discharge, he worked briefly for the FBI. He returned to Adams County and began working in the transportation industry as a truck driver, logging more than two million safe miles before retiring in 2008. John married Jacqueline R. Mann on April 19, 1970 in Adams. He was an active member in his community, serving as an elder at his church, holding various positions in Little League, and playing an integral role in starting the Bantam Basketball program. John was inducted into the Adams-Friendship Athletic Hall of Fame in October 2008.

John is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, Sun City, Ariz.; three sons, Jay (Jennifer) Lecy, Madison; Jerold (Kelley) Lecy, Adams; Jeffrey (Misti) Lecy, Baraboo; seven grandchildren, Zachary, Trevor, Katelyn, Dustin, Dillon, Julianna, and Nathaniel; brothers, Clinton Jr., Baltimore, Md. and Richard, Adams; and sister, Marie (Tom) Cherveny, Winnipeg. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edith; sister-in-law, Rose; and numerous aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 181 North Main Street, Adams, on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with service to follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church building fund.
