John L. Battige

John L. Battige, age 75, of Arkdale, Wisconsin died May 19, 2011 at his home.
Funeral services will be 4:00p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home
in Friendship, Wisconsin. Rev. John K. Stake will officiate. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home. Military Honors will be presented by the Adams County Honor Guard.

John was born October 23, 1935 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Leonard and Helen Battige.

He enlisted in the United States Marines First Division in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1961.

John married Florence Erfourth on June 28, 1959 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. They made their home in Milwaukee, where they raised their family. Following retirement they moved to Big Flats in 1994.

He enjoyed fishing, building model airplanes and ships, doing puzzles and reading war & history books.

He was preceded in death by his:
parents, Leonard & Helen Battige;
wife, Florence Battige;
son-in-law, Al Gillessen;
mother-in-law, Berniece Godfrey;
brother, Jim Battige;

Daughter: Barbara (Mark) Gillessen of Arkdale, Wisconsin
Son: David (Jennifer) Battige of Arkdale, Wisconsin
Son: Joe (Julie) Battige of Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Son: Corey (Heather) Battige of Arkdale, Wisconsin
Daughter: Bernice (Michael) Battige of Yucon, Oklahoma
20 Grandchildren & 9 Great-Grandchildren
