Jon Terry Cappel

Cappel_ Photo_webJon Terry Cappel, age 66, of Arkdale, Wisconsin passed away January 21, 2014 at his home.

Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church in Arkdale, Wisconsin.   Pastor Terri Skildum will officiate. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church.

Jon was born June 29, 1947 in Illinois to Walter and Ruth (Tyler) Cappel.

He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1965. He joined the National Guard in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1972.  Jon was then employed by Badger Army Ammunition Plant in Merrimac.  He later worked for Nekoosa Papers at the woodlands department for 38 years until his retirement on July 7, 2007.

Jon married Kathleen Reichhoff on September 30, 1972 in Oxford, Wisconsin.  They were blessed with one daughter Kari.

Jon enjoyed fishing, hunting, target shooting, reloading, photography, traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons; Troy and Ryan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Cappel; mother, Ruth Cappel-Pollex; Step-father, Alfred Pollex; Father in law, Edwin Reichhoff; Brother- in-law, Lee Reichhoff and Brother- in- law, Boyce Reichhoff

Survivors:

Wife:  Kathleen Cappel of Arkdale, Wisconsin

Daughter:  Kari (Mike) Banovec of Friendship, Wisconsin

Grandson:  Troy Banovec of Friendship, Wisconsin

Grandson:  Ryan Banovec of Friendship, Wisconsin

Mother- in- law:  Audrey Reichhoff of Oxford, Wisconsin

further survived by many brothers- in- law, sisters in law,nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews,   cousins, friends and his grand-dogs

    I remember Jon well from time distant school bus stops 55 years ago. He was always one ;of the nicest “big kids” I knew then. I found out this last year he still was. A mutual interest in photgraphy led to him offering me valued information and tips. He and Kathy took me on a delightful trip to The Necedah Wildlife refuge and let me rediscover that. They treated me with such kindness and respect that I came to realize the value of old friends never recedes.I will miss Jon tremendously and offer you Kathy my sympathy and prayers. RIP
