Larry J. Warren

Larry J. Warren, age 78, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Wm. S. Middleton Memorial VA Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church in Arkdale, Wisconsin, with Pastor Terri Skildum officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at East Arkdale Cemetery, Town of Strongs Prairie, Adams County. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the church.

Larry was born on August 12, 1947, in Edgerton, Wisconsin. He graduated from Adams–Friendship High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. From 1965 to 1968, Larry served as an aviation ordnanceman aboard the USS Forrestal and was deployed to Vietnam in 1967. He was honorably discharged in 1968.

On August 9, 1969, Larry married Mary Ann Winegarden at Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church. He worked for Badger Ordnance before joining the Adams County Sheriff’s Department in 1975, where he served as Sheriff and later as a Road Officer until his retirement in 2006.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and cooking. He was a proud member of the Adams VFW and deeply valued time spent with family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Elliott and Mary McGregor; his wife, Mary; siblings, Curtis (Joyce), Richard, and Kathleen (Stanley).

He is survived by his children, Necole (Phillip) and Melissa (Joe); grandchildren, Sebastian (Tiffany), Matthew (Jennifer), Jonathon (Mariana), Vanessa (Chris), Nicholas (Celeste), and Madison; great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Jaxsyn, Bonita, Jaxon, Aria, Haisley, Deegan, Alayna, Chloe, Oliver, Neveah, Greyson, and Kameron; sister, Velma; sister-in-law, Shelia; as well as many nieces and nephews.

    It has been a while since I have seen Larry but his personality has stuck with me ever since. I was friends with his daughter, Melissa, and helped with his campaign for sheriff. He was an amazing man who loved his family and friends with everything he was. My heartfelt condolences to his family. The world lost one of the greats with him.     Looking back at the 70s when Larry was with police dept seeing the Cheries in your rear window prompted you to down shift hit the gas and take the boredom out of the night. No tickets just a stern talking to and yes sir
