Larry “Shade” Curtin
Larry “Shade” Curtin, 83, of North Freedom, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017, following a brief battle with cancer. Shade was an avid fisherman, bowler (Baby-Baby-Baby) and golfer. He was a gentle soul who put smiles on many faces. He loved his wife and family very much. He was a great mentor for anyone that wanted to commit to improving their skill.
In honoring his wishes, no service will be held. Memorials may be made to Baraboo Area Senior Citizens Organization or Agrace Hospice Care.
Shade was one of the first people I met after moving to Baraboo….at the bowling alley of course. Such a good friend. Many, many evenings spent bowling, talking and laughing. His easy smile made this a brighter world. Our sympathies to you, Judy, and the whole family.
My husband, George, and I had the pleasure of bowling with Shade in the Monday Senior League in the Dells. He was such a fantastic bowler, and he drew many cards by striking therefore winning the kitty in our poker games (a whole $4). One time he imparted some great advice. He said “Do you want to know how to get more cards?” I expected a useul hint; he said”Bowl better”. We’ll never forget that, nor will we ever forget Shade. He was loved, and he will be missed. Our prayers are with your family.
Sorry to hear about Shade. he was a great friend and lots of good memories. May God comfort all of your families.
We were so sorry to hear about Shade, but we were glad we were able to see and talk to him in August. Our condolences to you, Judy and the rest of the family. Who didn’t like Shade? Nice guy with a great smile to share with everybody.
