Mabel Wormet

Our Lord chose a beautiful day to take home His faithful servant, Mabel Wormet, age 96, who passed away at her home on Thursday, May 10, 2007. 

Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adams, WI, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2007. The Rev. John Krebs will officiate. Interment will be at the Quincy Cemetery, Town of Quincy, WI, following the service.  

Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.  

Mabel was born March 16, 1911, in Quincy Township, Adams County, WI, to Frank and Rose (Lev) Hovorka. She was married in Winona, MN, on February 2, 1928, to Albert Herman Wormet Sr., who brought her to live on his parents farmowned by members of the John Wormet family since 1900where she has resided for the nearly 80 years since. 

Mabels passion was her family, who still gathered for holidays and birthdays, festively packing into the rustic old original family homestead. Her hobbies were crocheting, reading, watching the birds and wildlife just outside her windows, playing cards, traveling, visiting and shopping. 

She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, whose Pastor John Krebs portrayed his monthly in-home visits with her as lively and refreshing, and described her to her children as an exemplary Christian soul. 

Prior to her retirement, Mabel worked as a nurses aide at Friendship Manor, a nursing home that has since closed. 

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rose Hovorka; her husband, Albert Wormet Sr. (1991); three sons: John Louis Wormet (1935), Herbert Wormet (1965) and Randy Wormet (2001); three brothers: Frank, Jim and Ed Hovorka; three sisters: Mary Misek, Ella Moshure, and Rose Sinclair; and a great-grandson, Alan Wruck. 

Her four surviving children are her daughter Frances Warp of Coloma, WI, her son, A.J. "Bud" (Penny) Wormet of Friendship, WI, her daughter Karen Stevens of Friendship, WI, and her son William (Sandra) Wormet of Adams, WI. Surviving siblings are three brothers: Hank (Lu) Hovorka of Oakbrook Terrace, IL, Charlie (Carolyn) Hovorka of Chadwick, IL and Johnny (Joyce) Hovorka of Mt. Carroll, IL; two sisters: Emma Kopus of Blaine, WA, and Millie Mueller of Mt. Prospect, IL; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Hovorka of Adams, WI. 

Her eleven surviving grandchildren are Sandra (Steve) Fowler of Montello, WI; Bill Warp of Cedar Rapids, IA; Pela (Dave) Steiner of Friendship, WI; Tim (Linda) Wormet of Adams, WI; Tadd (Renee) Wormet of Coloma, WI; Amy (Dennis) Griese of Friendship, WI; Heath (Jennifer) Follen of Waunakee, WI; Tamra (Scott) Lowrey of Adams, WI; Jeffrey Wormet of Adams, WI; Trisha (Brad) Brockel of Arvada, CO; Chanin (Dan) Allen of Friendship, WI. Eighteen great-grandchildren are Kit Wruck; Lara (Al) Ginter, Megan and Colin Steiner; Brook (Crystal) Wormet, Brandon, Brianna and Bryce Wormet; Kassie and Taylor Wormet; Amanda and Gavin Griese; Matthew, Samantha and Madison Follen; Brittany, Chelsea and Zac Brockel. Her six surviving great-great-grandchildren are Shane Wruck, Kourtney Wruck, Autumn and Hoyt Wormet, Blace Dornacker and Talan Ginter.
