Michael D. Polivka

Michael D. Polivka, 42, 3423 16th Street South, Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday, May 28, 2007, at his residence.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Kent Raddatz will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Repose Cemetery in Friendship at a later date.

Michael was born in Friendship on July 15, 1964, to Duane and Susan (Weihe) Polivka. He married Della M. Stegall on September 24, 1988, in Maple Grove, Minnesota.

He was employed as a nurse anesthetist at Riverview Hospital. He loved taking care of his patients.

He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting, curling, camping, running marathons and biking.

He served his country in the National Guard from 1988 to 1997 and attained the rank of captain.

Survivors include his wife: Della; three children: Mallory, Trevor and Alex, all at home; his mother: Susan Polivka of Adams; his father and stepmother: Duane and Mary Polivka of Friendship; his paternal grandmother: Frieda Johnson of Friendship; and two sisters: Cathy Polivka of Pardeeville and Debbie Polivka of Wisconsin Rapids. He was preceded in death by one brother (Daniel), his maternal grandparents (Marsha and Dr. Arthur Weihe), his paternal grandfather (Harry Polivka) and his step-grandfather (David Johnson).

Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.

A memorial will be established in his name at a later date.

    Della and family, I just found this in the AANA newsletter. My condolences are with you. I had a lot of respect for Mike. I thought he had it all. My prayers are with your family. I lost a nephew in a motorcycle crash just 3 1/2 months ago.
