Mike was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Provie and is survived by his perfect (for him), wife of 42 years, Patty and brothers: Steve (Pam) Brenz of Oxford, WI; John Brenz of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Patrick Brenz of Madison, WI; and niece: Jamie (Chris) Prahl of Oregon, WI; and nephew: Christopher Brenz.
Mike was additionally blessed through marriage, with an incredibly loving and supportive family of cousins.
After growing up on Madison’s East side, Mike joined the Army, serving in Vietnam; and later, proudly as Commander of the VFW Post 8483 and was a member of WI Vietnam Vets: Chapter 5. After several years in FL, mike returned to Madison, where he worked for Sergenian’s Floor Coverings in commercial sales until retirement and moving to Montello, where he worked @ Holliday Hardware and found joy in delivering Meals on Wheels for Marquette County, which abruptly ended due to illness in 2023.
Never without a dog by his side, Mike was interested in architecture and military history and enjoyed fishing and all things “Badger”.
Mike’s family would like to express our deepest, heartfelt gratitude and love to: St. Croix Hospice for their tireless support, compassion, and grace and the many VA doctors and staff for their tender care, humor, patience, and bottomless kindness.
Remember Mike with a smile.

I want to convey my sincere sympathies to the family of Mike Brenz. We lived in the Berkley Heights neighborhood in Madison in our high school days. We were fast friends and created a lot of fun memories. Whether we were hanging out, playing ball or throwing snowballs,he was a fun loving friend and I’m sure he will be missed by all his family and friends.
My heartfelt condolences to the family of Edwin G. Erskine. May his memory be a blessing to you during this difficult time.
